Spring has Sprung

It’s calving season, and here’s a quick shot of number 1, very shortly after diving out of the mom.  If all is well, a calf generally comes out front hooves first, then head, shoulders and the rest plops out onto the ground from the cow, who is standing while she gives birth.

Shortly after the glorious event, curiosity almost killed my sister, who had to see if this was was a baby bull or heifer. Want to check for yourself?

As of this writing, a second calf has arrived, with many more expected.

For those of you with hamburger in mind,  the end of May is the expected time that the next set of feeders will be sent to the meat processor.
